There has been a lot of buzz around the thirty year old small forward whose seems to have one foot out the door. Melo is in the position to leave the Knicks behind in search of a ring. Much like LeBron James in 2010, Melo is a player whose proven to be a world class star, but has no championship titles on his resume. I get it, the guy is not getting any younger, so I see why he is favoring a new destination. He’s given the next a four year run and has come out empty handed each time. Plus, there is no real sign of hope that they have a strong playoff team in the upcoming season…so far.

I think the teams that are looking to have some real upcoming potential are:

1.) The Houston Rockets

2.) Cleveland Caveliers

3.) Portland Trailblazers

I would favor him to stay in New York to stay loyal as a fan, but the best destination for Melo seems to be Houston in my mind. With Harding, Howard, and Parsons, adding Melo could make a scary team. They could initially manipulate what the Heat have, but in a younger form.

Now I would hate to see Melo leave next season, but before I say there is no hope, there still might be. Phil Jackson recently talked to him about staying the extra year giving him reason to believe that some extra star power was coming our way next season. Jackson being the great and very influential person he is, may actually be able to sway Melo to stay. We have a genius behind the big desk, and I believe Jackson will be able to come through on his fresh start in a new season. There was not much he could do mid-season, but Jackson has a whole summer to come up with a way to put the Knicks back on the map. Also, Melo is a NYC native. He was born in Brooklyn, and grew up in the projects. He is a city kid at heart and the Knicks were his number one preferred destination when he requested a trade away from the Nuggets in 2009.
